FansXR’s extended reality platform will be built into TV Azteca. This will let sports program viewers choose their own viewing angle by giving them full control of multiple 360-degree and 2D cameras from a web browser on a digital device.

FansXR, an immersive digital entertainment company that lets fans control and game live sports and entertainment broadcasts on second screens in augmented reality and in the metaverse, has signed a deal with Mexico’s TV Azteca, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: AZTECACPO Latibex: XTZA), one of the two largest producers of Spanish-language television programming in the world, to bring first-of-its-kind viewing experiences of Mexican sports and entertainment.

FansXR’s extended reality platform will be built into TV Azteca. This will let viewers of certain sports and entertainment shows on TV Azteca in the future choose their own watching angle by giving them full control of multiple 360-degree and 2D cameras from their digital devices through a web browser. Fans will also be able to see and interact with player statistics that are based on computer vision, as well as a variety of ways to get involved, such as live chat, polls, products, and betting.

FansXR and TV Azteca will also work with sports and entertainment companies to open up new advertising and sponsorship possibilities on the second screen. TV Azteca Deportes owns the professional football team Mazatlán F.C. and shows some games from Liga MX, the FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Confederations Cup, Copa América, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, the NFL, fighting, and lucha libre. As the best source of sports entertainment in Mexico, TV Azteca will use its experience showing top events to improve the fan experience for millions of subscribers.

CEO of TV Azteca Studios Guillermo Wilkins said, “We have a rare chance to bring a new, cutting-edge offering to Mexico. Fans will have a new way to interact with immersive material and a more personalized experience when watching sports and entertainment. This will also give sponsors and marketers a new way to reach out to their clients and fans in a way that could only happen when working with FansXR.

Matt Coleman, Co-Founder and CEO of FansXR, said, “The team at TV Azteca knows that fan involvement technologies are important to the health of sports broadcasts and that the future of watching games is now here. In today’s media world, sports leagues and broadcasters are under pressure to find new ways to increase viewership, interaction, and media income. Thanks to improvements in computer vision technology, FansXR can give a solution that keeps fans watching games longer by using multiple camera angles, real-time betting, gamification, and interaction all on one screen in 5G.

The relationship between FansXR and TV Azteca will show the global sports market how to offer complementary experiences that appeal to both casual and serious sports fans at the venue and at home.

The announcement today comes after a number of successful pilot activations in stadiums that took place earlier in 2023 in Mexico. FansXR and TV Azteca worked on-site with local phone companies and stadium management to test the technology and set up 5G. This made sure that fans at the game and at home could get the most out of the FansXR platform with the best latency in the business.
