Motion, a leading platform for creative analytics and research used by creative strategists, has successfully raised $30 million in Series B funding. Inovia led the funding round, with Threshold Ventures, Headline, Abstract Ventures, and Sugar Capital participating as existing investors. This latest investment brings Motion’s total funding to $42 million USD and will be used to accelerate the company’s product development and enhance its capabilities in analytics and creative research.

In light of the fact that audience targeting on advertising platforms is becoming increasingly dependent on algorithms, creativity has emerged as the most important aspect in marketing success. It is because of this transformation that the profession of the creative strategist has emerged. This strategist is responsible for bridging the gap between the analytical and creative parts of marketing. The tools that Motion provides to these strategists allow them to conduct research on advertising trends, evaluate performance, and come up with new ideas in order to maximise the revenue effect of creative interventions.

Motion has been widely used by top performing advertisers in the ecommerce and direct-to-consumer industries ever since it was first introduced in 2021. Motion is utilised by a number of well-known e-commerce firms, such as HexClad, Vuori, True Classic, Jones Road Beauty, and Ridge, within the context of analysing more than $6 billion in annual media expenditures.

Reza Khadjavi, CEO of Motion, highlighted that their customers are top performers in paid social, with creative strategists playing a pivotal role in their success. Motion aims to make the creative strategist’s role more accessible by providing essential tools to produce winning ads. Over the past year, Motion has seen substantial growth, doubling its team from 25 to 50 employees and expanding its customer base to over 1,000 companies. These customers span direct-to-consumer and ecommerce brands, as well as B2B SaaS and consumer app sectors.

To further support advertisers, Motion has launched a new product called Creative Research, which deepens its offering in ad production research. With Creative Research, brands can monitor competitors’ activities on paid social platforms, track new ads launched by rivals, and build a comprehensive swipe file with ads from Facebook and TikTok. This tool also enables brands to analyze competitors’ media mix, messaging, and landing pages.

In addition to providing valuable insights, Motion empowers teams to make better decisions and fosters innovation, rather than just reiterating existing ideas according to Inovia Partner Karam Nijjar. The team’s expertise positions them to become the command center for creative strategy within marketing organizations.

A well-known YouTuber and influential figure in the advertising industry, Dara Denney, will be joining Motion as the company’s Chief Evangelist, according to another announcement made by Motion. Denney will be responsible for providing guidance on product development, developing educational content for Motion’s clients, and assisting in the training of the future generation of creative strategists by virtue of this post.

Motion is actively on the lookout for qualified candidates to fill positions in the areas of engineering, product management, marketing, customer success, and sales as the company continues to expand.
