Qumulo provides a significant capacity, scalability, and performance increase for a leading European post-production studio.

Qumulo, the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere, announced today that award-winning PFX Studio in Prague is collaborating with the company to optimize its full-service post-production environment. Qumulo, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, supports PFX Studio to consolidate multiple locations and workflows onto the Qumulo File Data Platform.

PFX’s mission is to provide exceptional Post-Production services for film, television, animated content, and advertisements. It accomplishes this mission by partnering with global leaders such as Netflix, HBO Max, Disney, and others. PFX has become one of the most well-known and reputable VFX companies.

The studio utilizes the interface of the Qumulo File Data Platform for efficient administration and operational analytics in real-time. Real-time insights are crucial for the M&E industry. PFX automates critical processes using the sophisticated Qumulo API.

“Everything worked immediately. Martin Polak, Head of IT at PFX, remarked that Qumulo has a wonderful approach, is customer-focused, does not overwhelm with information, and enables us to focus on what is essential.

In the past decade, unstructured data has grown exponentially, and legacy architectures can no longer keep up with the storage and management demands. The massive amounts of data underlying PFX’s expanding production portfolio lead to technical issues in the end. By utilizing the Qumulo File Data Platform, PFX was able to optimize the administration and centralization of its enormous file data across all sites.

Significant improvement in capacity, scalability, and performance. Compared to Hitachi HNAS, Qumulo’s file data platform provides a solution that is much simplified, scalable, and agile. On demand, capacity expansion is possible. Since PFX opted for an All-NVMe solution with Qumulo, the performance increase was noticeable from the start. Qumulo is PFX’s active storage, while HNAS provides NAS storage without performance requirements and serves as a backup.

Real-time data visibility and data management. Without real-time data visibility, effective data management at scale is untenable. This is of paramount importance in the M&E industry. PFX’s central repository management plug-in slowed down the system. They were able to resolve the issue thanks to real-time insights. Using live data, Qumulo’s dashboard and data services for real-time analytics were designed to control access, monitor usage, prevent bottlenecks, and predict costs.

REST-API to facilitate file automation and management. Qumulo’s software is enhanced, complemented, and managed by a comprehensive REST API. It enables PFX to retrieve all data using REST calls and facilitates automation. Information displayed on the Analytics tab can be retrieved using REST API queries. The majority of file system operations are also accessible via the REST API.

By combining a consumption-based strategy, on-premises controls, and a modern cloud experience, Qumulo’s software platform and Scale AnywhereTM approach provide clients with a simple solution for managing big data within their private data center. The Qumulo and HPE solution operates on HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus servers for enhanced performance, leading-edge security, and workload optimization.

Qumulo is the preferred storage software for in-house and remote creative work groups. Qumulo assists major film studios, streaming networks, gaming and production houses, as well as animation, post production, and VFX companies, in capturing, collaborating, and distributing their creative works for global audiences to experience.
